For Sponsors
Sponsor Qualifications: - Is an active, fully-initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church
- Has the ability to relate comfortably and candidly with the candidate
- Is willing to make the faith journey with the Confirmation candidate and others during Confirmation preparation
- Preferably, is the candidate's baptismal sponsor, and not his or her parent
"I will not leave you orphans; I am coming with you!"  (John 14:18)
Things to do with your Confirmation Candidate: - Be available and stay in touch about things that are happening in their life
- See a movie or explore a bookstore to discuss values in the movies and in print
- Ask about Confirmation meetings and activities
- Volunteer to help with their Service Projects and Outreach Activities
- Participate in parish liturgies attending Mass together
- Help your candidate make connections between their class, the parish, the diocese and the larger Church
Reflections: - After celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with your candidate, reflect on your spiritual travels together
- What have your learned in this process and what have you tried to teach your candidate?
- What has the Confirmation experience and/or the candidate taught you?
- Knowing what you know about the Confirmation process would you volunteer to be a sponsor again? Why/Why not?
