First Holy Communion

Holy Communion gives us a spiritual joy in the service of Christ.

These meetings are important because they offer an explanation of the parent's role in the preparation of the children for the Sacraments.  Workbooks for both Sacraments are distributed at these meetings.  A list of important dates is sent home with the second grade students in September.

Older children who have not received the Sacraments of Penance and First Communion will be ministered to on an individual basis.  Please notify the Office of Religious Education if your child is in grade 3 or above and has not received these Sacraments, so that necessary arrangements can be made.

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is a two year program at Immaculate Conception Church spanning the 1st and 2nd grades.  Communion is celebrated in the month of May.  There are usually two Parent Meetings that are mandatory:  one for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the other for the Sacrament of First Communion.  Students will be interviewed by the Pastor and Director of Religious Education two weeks prior to receiving the Sacraments.  This is not a threatening situation, rather, a quiet conversation with each child about the sacrament they are preparing to receive.
