Praying the Rosary

The word Rosary means "rose garden" because the prayers are like a bouquet we offer to Mary.

The Rosary is a form of prayer to Mary.  We pray the Rosary by praying numbers of Hail Marys, usually counting off the prayers on a circle of beads.

To see a copy of each Prayer, click on the highlighted text.

1.  Make the Sign of the Cross

     and say the Apostles' Creed."

2.  Say the "Our Father."

3.  Say three "Hail Marys."

4.  Say the "Glory Be to the Father."

5.  Announce the First Mystery...

      Joyful,       Luminous,       Sorrowful,       Glorious

     then say the "Our Father."

6.  Say ten "Hail Marys."

    while meditating on the Mystery.

7.  Say the "Glory Be to the Father."

8.  Announce the Second Mystery....

then say the "Our Father," "Hail Mary" and "Glory Be to the Father" in the same manner....

Continue with third, fourth, and fifth mysteries in the same manner.
