Advent and Christmas » St. Nicholas

St. Nicholas

St Nicholas was a priest, who later became a bishop. He was a rich person, and traveled the country helping people, giving gifts of money and other presents.

Saint Nicholas is best remembered as the Patron Saint to children. While he lived, he gave children he met small gifts-- some candy, a toy. His kindness, which always managed to surprise them, touched their hearts, and they learned from this holy man what a beautiful thing giving is.

St. Nicholas did not like to be seen when he gave away presents, so the children were told to go to sleep quickly or he would not come! Nothing has changed and Santa Claus will not arrive this Christmas unless the children go to sleep early.

December 6th
